Power-Of-Activism

THE POWER OF ACTIVISM
(53 min) Australia/Indonesia/Pakistan
[watch trailer]

WEDNESDAY 10/26, 4:15 PM (SESSION 13)

Director: Steven Pasvolsky
Producer: Michelle Dado-Millynn

Description:

This film takes us on an emotional journey around the world and is sure to light a fire under even the strongest climate change denier. The Power Of Activism focuses on six highly spirited female activists as they are put under the microscope to ascertain the financial impact of their environmental solutions… and the results are astonishing. From shark conservation to indigenous practices, intensive farming to plastic pollution–all their causes fall under the umbrella of “climate change,” but they should also fall under the umbrella of "saving tax payers hundreds of millions of dollars.”

Biography:

Steven Pasvolsky’s short drama Inja, which he wrote and directed while a student at AFTRS, was nominated for an Academy Award in 2003. Since graduating, he's written, directed, and produced a broad range of documentaries for National Geographic, Discovery, and the ABC; as well as a narrative feature for Universal Pictures. In 2018, Steve wrote and directed John Eales Revels: The Haka, a feature documentary for the Discovery Channel, which won a Medal at the Olympic Committee’s Sports Press Association Awards for journalism. Later that year, Steve wrote and directed Christmas Sounds Better This Year, a one-hour documentary for the ABC. Steve followed that film with Calibrate, which won the Audience Award at the Awareness Film Festival, and he is currently working on the feature documentary, as well as a drama feature, Three Chords And The Truth.
