Description: In 1997, Academy Award-winning actor, Morgan Freeman, who lives in the Charleston, Mississippi, community, offered to fund the first-ever integrated, senior prom in the history of Charleston’s one high school. His offer was ignored. In 2008, Morgan offered again...the East Tallahatchie County school board accepted. We follow four main characters: Morgan Freeman, who’s feelings of ‘deep hurt’ about the separate proms motivates him to pay for the integrated prom; Jessica, a white senior whose parents are racist; Chasidy, a black senior whose single mom is not racist; and ‘Billy Joe,’ a white, insightful senior, at odds with the town’s racism, who would only appear on-camera in shadow, fearing his racist parents would disown him if they knew his true feelings and actions. Biography: Paul Saltzman is a two-time Emmy Award winning filmmaker. His work has included producing, directing, writing, editing, cinematography and sound recording for HBO’s American Playhouse, CBC-Disney Channel. He has produced television series like My Secret Identity, Matrix and Max Glick. He co-produced Map of the Human Heart, an international epic directed by Vincent Ward, starring Jason Scott Lee, Anne Parillaud, Patrick Bergin, John Cusack and Jean Moreau. He also executive produced Martha, Ruth & Edie as well as Sam & Me, which received an Honorable Mention in competition for the Camera d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival. He is currently editing the documentary Return to Mississippi, with Harry Belafonte, the KKK and Morgan Freeman. Paul has also published two books, The Beatles in Rishikesh, through the Viking Studio, Penguin Putnam, and a deluxe Limited Edition Box-Set, The Beatles in India. Before joining Sunrise Films Limited, as vice president of operations in 2000, Patricia Aquino, producer of Prom Night in Mississippi and co-owner, with Paul Saltzman, of Return to Mississippi Prods. Inc., was a franchise owner of Black Isle Communications.
