[watch trailer] |
Directors/Producers: Barbara Attie, Janet Goldwater, Mike Attie
Description:
Fifty years ago, Norman Lear broke new ground when Maude, a grandmother with an unplanned pregnancy, unashamedly opted for an abortion on primetime tv. But if you’ve watched a show with an abortion storyline since then, you’re more likely to see abortions that are unsafe, shameful, averted at the last minute, or spoken about in hushed tones by characters that are younger, whiter and wealthier than their real-life counterparts. In a country where the right to choose is no longer guaranteed, Hollywood Does Abortion reveals the stories that Hollywood told us about abortion–stories that shaped our hopes, our fears and the rapidly changing political reality we now face.
