[watch trailer]
Directors/Producers: Alan Snitow, Deborah Kaufman

Description:

Post Atlantic explores the visionary world of legendary African-American painter and philosopher Dewey Crumpler as he connects the transatlantic slave trade to modern globalization, demonstrating what it means to be a working artist with a conscience in today’s society. A defining figure in the Black Arts Movement, Crumpler emerged from his early work with the Black Panther Party and went on to teach future luminaries at the San Francisco Art Institute. Post Atlantic follows Crumpler in his studio, at home, throughout the Bay Area, and at the recent high-profile opening of his “Post Atlantic” exhibition in New York. The film is a vivid portal into a life of creation, defiance, and visionary engagement with both history and the future.
