Our democracy is under severe attack, and we believe that the best shield is knowledge. For 28 years UNAFF has been providing exactly that through visual storytelling that builds a community which is informed, inoculated against fake news and demagoguery, and ready to defend its fundamental values. UNAFF fulfills an essential role, which our community needs now more than anytime in its history.
Even though we are extremely frugal, inflation and difficult circumstances of recent events have adversely affected the ability of the festival to raise adequate funding, casting a cloud over all our year-round programs - from our highly popular “UNAFF for Seniors” and “UNAFF in Libraries” FREE weekly screenings, to our programs for veterans, students, women and kids, even bringing into question the very existence of the festival.
While UNAFF does not receive federal government grants and entirely depends on our community for funding, recent changes in D.C. have forced other non-profits to turn to private sources, increasing competition and making it even more difficult for us at a time when we simply can not afford to fall behind.
As a non-profit organization, we desperately need your help to ensure that we are able to continue our work. If you are already a supporter, please dig deeper into your pockets if you can, and help us widen our donor base by asking your friends to lend us their support, too.
Since UNAFF deals with a broad spectrum of human rights and international and social issues, we get frequently overlooked by single-topic donors, who prefer to see organizations addressing their particular area of interest, e.g. women issues, or race, or a specific ethnicity. We urge them to look again, as no other project offers a broader educational opportunity than UNAFF, and as such presents a unique foundation to any informed effort toward successfully addressing the multitude of issues in our community, including the ones they focus on.
Your tax-deductible donation is essential for us to continue with all these valuable programs for our community, so please donate now.
You can make your donation online by pressing the “DONATE” button.
Of course, if you prefer, you can also mail your check payable to our fiscal sponsor, the IDA (International Documentary Association). Please remember to put "For UNAFF" in the memo field of your check and mail to:
