THE INVISIBLE DOCTRINE: THE SECRET HISTORY OF NEOLIBERALISM
(75 min) UK/US

SATURDAY 10/25, 2:05 PM (SESSION 23)

[watch trailer]

Directors/Producers: Peter Hutchison, Lucas Sabean

Description:

Despite its name, neoliberalism’s core belief is unrestricted corporate freedom, often at the expense of society and the planet. George Monbiot argues that neoliberalism is fundamentally incompatible with sustaining life on earth. As consumption rises and ecosystems break down, the need to question our role as citizens, not just consumers, has never been more urgent. Drawing on research that challenges the myth of human selfishness, the film calls for a political and cultural shift grounded in cooperation, mutual aid and belonging. It is a timely response to the alienation and despair that mark our current moment, and a bold invitation to imagine a better future.
