My City Pizza is a light-hearted, amusing and fast-paced documentary about the eating habits in modern Tehran. It also offers a kaleidoscopic view of Iranian society. Young people, old people, progressive and conservative Iranians tell us what they think about Italian fast food and reveal something about themselves too.

Biography:

Ala Mohseni was born in Iran. He began his theater career in 1991, in conjunction with his started studying physics education. He has acted in plays by well-known directors such as Beyzaeie. In 1997, he joined an advertising company Kelke Khial as a writer and creative director for teasers and animations. In 2001, he finished a course on filmmaking. In 2004, he made Life, a documentary about one of the pioneers of Iranian cinema, Nosrat Karimi. In 2005, he accomplished a workshop by Abbas Kiarostami and became one of the selected members of the workshop. While studying under Kiarostami, he made a short comedy called Multi-purpose Carpet. Mohseni also produced a second documentary film in 2005 called Kiasoltan. In 2009, he was awarded an IDFA Jan Vrijman Fund for the project Hidden Kisses, but was unable to finish the film due to the widespread civil unrest that took place after the 2009 Iranian presidential election.
