Description:

In the heart of Los Angeles, two members of an innovative Street Medicine team devote their livelihood to helping their unhoused patients receive care, hope, and connection.

Biography:

Reed Martin is a documentary and commercial film director. His work has been recognized by many of the largest festivals in the world in both the documentary and narrative genres. Filmmaking allows Reed to combine his passion for storytelling with a beautiful medium that requires meticulous attention to detail to communicate ideas, elicit emotions, and challenge perspectives.

Chirsten Vanderbilt Ellis is pursuing an MFA in Film and Television at the University of Southern California. After graduating with a degree in English from USC, Chirsten worked in Special Education at a local bilingual elementary school in Texas. She also directed and produced a short documentary about teaching Special Education during a global pandemic. As a storyteller, Chirsten explores the power of empathy and human connection through documentaries and narrative films.

Christian Yosef, an international studies major with a minor in communication & media studies, wants to make films that counter anti-Black racism in Hollywood films. Popular movies often perpetuate racial stereotypes that reflect common prejudices in our society, he says, and movies about American slavery remain quite popular in the film academy. Born in Ethiopia, Christian also wants to change the way Africa is depicted in film.
