Director/Producer: Romilly Spiers
Producer: Romilly Spiers

Ten Quintillion features a tiny garden and the creatures that rely on its existence to survive. Through bugs-eye-view exploration, this menial location comes alive, the creatures within fascinating and the entire microcosm beautiful. An intimacy is created with creatures that are normally disregarded, each becoming a unique, alluring character. However, the harmonious nature of this tiny world balances on a knife point and it takes very little to throw it into disarray.

Romilly Spiers is a young cinematographer recently graduated from Swinburne University of Technology with a bachelor’s degree in film and television. Since finishing university at the end of 2011, she has been working at Lemac Film & Digital, one of Australia's leading camera rental houses, in equipment preparation. While at Swinburne, she wrote, directed, produced, shot and edited Ten Quintillion, an audio-visual natural history documentary, for her graduate project. Romilly is keen to pursue a cinematography career with a focus on natural history and documentary. Ten Quintillion is her first venture into the natural history genre.
