SUPPORT
Dear UNAFF Friends,

In these difficult times, we are grateful that we have you, our UNAFF community, and our shared passion for promoting human rights through documentary film.

The 30 members of our UNAFF Jury just selected 60 documentaries from almost 600 submissions for the 23rd UNAFF virtual film festival, which will be held for 11 days in October (October 15-25) and celebrate this year’s theme, THE POWER OF EMPATHY.

Our filmmakers, who bring us all of these incredible documentaries, have been deeply affected by the current pandemic, and many are struggling financially. We have been receiving more requests than ever to pay online screening fees, at the price of expending a major part of the festival budget.

Unfortunately, all of our other year-round programs have been greatly impacted by COVID-19 as well — our “UNAFF for Seniors” weekly screenings in San Jose, Palo Alto and Sunnyvale, as well as our “UNAFF in Libraries” program, which serves more than 20 libraries throughout Santa Clara County, have been suspended. Our other programs for veterans, students, women, and kids have been halted as well.As a non-profit organization, we, like so many others, are struggling to bridge this period of crisis, and we need your help to ensure that we will be able to continue our work. We are looking to you to help us raise $30,000 in the next 4 weeks so that UNAFF can survive.

What the future will look like after this pandemic is in your hands, and now is the time to ensure that it includes engaging and impactful festivals like UNAFF. Our theme this year, THE POWER OF EMPATHY, is more resonant than ever. We know that the documentary community is resilient and inventive, and we trust that with your support, we will overcome the current challenge.

Your tax-deductible donation is essential for us to continue with all these valuable programs for our community.

Please donate now. Knowing that mailing checks may be difficult during pandemic, we suggest you make your donation online at www.documentary.org/project/unaff, or by pressing the “DONATE” button on our home page at www.unaff.org.

Of course, if you prefer to, you can mail your check payable to IDA (International Documentary Association). Please put in the memo "for the 23rd UNAFF" and mail to:
