Between Worlds

"Between Worlds" is a six year portrait of three Vietnamese Amerasians and their families who arrived in the United States as refugees in 1992. From Vietnam to a refugee camp in the Philippines and on to the final destination in the United States, this film is an extensive and moving portrait of recent immigrants. Born of interracial union, often unaware of their real parentage, carrying the desire to belong from one society to another, they are the often ignored "victims" of the Vietnam war.

Shawn Hainsworth graduated from Harvard University in 1988 with a degree in Visual Studies. His films include "Act without Words" (1998), "Sunflowers" (1996), "Coyote Tales" (1991), "Dinner at 8:15" (1987), "Building Wrecking" (1986), "Shut up and Skate" (1996), "Chase, Suicide and Cookies" (1986), and "North End" (1985) and have been shown at film festivals all over the world where they have won multiple awards and recognitions.
